Jill Schieber is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Specialist. She has worked in the field of Social Work for 40 years.
Having worked extensively with individuals and families of neurodivergent and developmentally delayed children, teens, and adults for 25 years, she recognized the isolation and loneliness they experience. For the typically developing teen, making and keeping friends is often a difficult task. For those developmentally delayed, these challenges can feel impossible due to their special needs. Many become isolated and understandably depressed as a result.
For these reasons, Jill has created both The Friendship Remedy and Matchmaking for the Socially Challenged. She is determined to personally connect and help others create meaningful, long-term bonds since she feels everyone should have the ability to engage in and experience healthy relationships.
Jill has been happily married to her husband for 35 years and has two adult children. In addition to this, she also maintains a private practice working with families, couples, and individuals. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, is an avid reader, enjoys traveling, doing pilates, going to the beach, and spending time with her dogs.
Jordan Schieber is the Matchmaker and Director of the Friendship Remedy. He left his career in Urban Planning to join his mother in expanding her mission to help individuals with social difficulties build meaningful and lasting relationships. He brings a thoughtful, intuitive approach to his work and a passion for creating supportive environments where teens feel seen, understood, and connected. Jordan is passionate about helping others form new friendships and believes that everyone not only can learn how to build meaningful relationships, but that friendship is an essential part of a fulfilling life.
Kim Resnick is a New York State Licensed Special Education Teacher who has held various positions in the field for the past 25 years. Kim has actively taught the neurodiverse and developmentally delayed population in many aspects and is excited to now direct her efforts entirely toward relationship building.
Over the years, Kim has particularly studied and become interested in the dynamics of relationships and in bringing people together. She credits herself for helping others become a part of many long-term, thriving relationships.
Kim divides her time between The Friendship Remedy and our sister company, Matchmaking for the Socially Challenged, where she also focuses on building and nurturing meaningful relationships.
Karen Ottenstein has degrees in both Communication and Psychology and worked in the Advertising field before becoming a stay-at-home mom to her two children. During this time, she became involved in her school community, where she was able to put her administrative talent to work. In addition, she became personally involved with the Special Needs community. Feeling intrigued by her new knowledge, she became further interested in helping this population.
Karen is thrilled to combine her professional experience with her new passion, supporting and bringing meaningful social experiences to those having difficulties..
